Kathy Cooney

Kokopelli's Serenade showing specially designed figure pieces

Kathy and her family reside in Moab, Utah. Kathy is best known for her watercolors of the area and her abstract realism lends itself well to the rock formations and ancient Indian ruins that are found throughout the southwest.

Prior to Moab, Kathy lived in Alaska for nine years. During that time, her art skills changed from technical pencil work to moderately abstract watercolors. Her paintings began to reflect her surroundings. After seeing the beauty that stretched from horizon to horizon, she realized that rocks, mountains, water and trees were not separate entities, but instead, all connected to the heart of the scene.

Since moving to the southwest, she has fallen in love with another type of beauty that exists in canyons, red rock, desert views and the timeless heritage that evolved from the Four Corners area of the United States.
