The Jigsaw Puzzle Event of the Year
November 8th, 2008

Bob Armstrong and I are hosting another Puzzle Parley in the historical Sturbridge Village Massachusetts.

What's a Puzzle Parley?

It's a chance for jigsaw puzzle cutters, collectors, and enthusiasts to come together and enjoy a room full of puzzles and puzzle people for the entire day and evening. For cutters, there are sessions discussing any and all aspects of our craft, from wood to blades to prints to you-name-it. It's a chance for every cutter to ask about his or her pet problems and find out how others have solved them. In addition, all cutters are requested to bring some of their work to show and optionally sell.

For collectors and enthusiasts, it's a chance to actually see how puzzles are created, to hear the ins and outs, and most importantly, to see beautiful puzzles ranging from antique collections to most recent works from today's top cutters. Our large function room at the hotel will be filled with puzzles all along the wall from early in the morning until our sale in the afternoon. It's a great chance to see puzzles, puzzles, and more puzzles.

There are some firsts too. For the first time, all three collaborative group puzzles will be on display. So if you missed the last two parleys, this is a chance to see them.

These puzzles were first displayed at the AGPC convention in Atlanta this spring. More will be added for this event. (And if you are a cutter who hasn't done one, we would love to have you participate, just email me and I can point you to the image and information).

In addition to the one day meeting and dinner, I will be having an open house Friday afternoon showing many of my antique puzzles, some of my own work, and opening the workshop for any who would like to try my Eclipse saw. On Sunday, Bob is having an open house where many of his antique puzzles will be displayed. He will also give tours of his workshop with pointers on how to restore a puzzle and make replacement pieces that look like the original.
